Piano tuning made straightforward

Every piano and playing style is different, so we take time to understand how your instrument is used before we begin. You’ll always know what we recommend and why, with clear, friendly explanations.

  • Standard tuning for upright and grand pianos
  • Pitch raise for long-untuned instruments
  • Light regulation and minor adjustments
  • Health check and honest maintenance advice

Guide price for a standard tuning: from $295 depending on location and piano condition.

Typical visit

A standard tuning appointment usually takes around 1.5–2 hours. We work quietly and respectfully in your home, leaving your piano and room just as we found them.

How it works

A simple, reassuring process from first call to final chord

1. Quick phone chat

Tell us a little about your piano, how often it is played and when it was last tuned. We’ll confirm a guide price and answer any questions.

2. Home visit

We arrive on time, assess your instrument and confirm the work needed before we begin. You are welcome to listen in or leave us to it.

3. Play and enjoy

We invite you to try your newly tuned piano while we’re there, making any last refinements so it feels and sounds just right.

Kind words from local players

Most of our work comes through recommendations from families, teachers and musicians.

“Our old family upright sounds like a different instrument. The whole experience was calm, unhurried and very professional.”

Sarah, parent of Grade 4 pianist

“My students immediately commented on how much nicer the piano felt to play. I now book in regular visits every year.”

James, private piano teacher

“Very considerate in our home, especially around the children’s bedtime. The piano has never sounded better.”

Helen, busy household with young family

Why regular piano tuning matters

A well-tuned piano is easier to play, more inspiring to practise on, and kinder to your instrument over time.

Richer, warmer tone

Bring back the singing quality of your piano so pieces sound full, clear and musical again.

Protect your investment

Regular tuning keeps string tension stable and helps prevent costly issues with the action and soundboard.

More enjoyable to play

Keep learners motivated and advanced players confident that every note responds exactly as it should.

Frequently asked questions

If you are unsure about anything, please do give us a ring – we are always happy to help.

How often should a piano be tuned?

For most home instruments we recommend tuning once a year. Pianos that are played daily, used for teaching, or kept in rooms with changing temperature and humidity may benefit from tuning every six months.

My piano has not been tuned for years – is that a problem?

Not at all. Many of the pianos we see have gone a long time between tunings. In some cases we may recommend a pitch raise (a gentle two-stage tuning) to bring it safely back to concert pitch. We’ll explain this clearly before any work starts.

Do I need to prepare anything before you arrive?

Please clear the top of the piano so we can lift the lid, and make sure there is a nearby plug socket if lighting is needed. It also helps if the room can be kept fairly quiet during the tuning so we can hear every note clearly.

Which areas do you cover?

We serve local homes, schools and venues across the North West Melbourne area. When you call, just tell us your postcode and we will confirm whether we cover your location and whether any travel supplement applies.
